Comrades,
What are you seeing out there on lead shot pricing? I'm hearing of
$40+ a bag....with $50, looming on the horizon!!! Forget pork-bellies and
copper ......who ever bought into lead futures must be swinging in his hammock on Turks and Cacos!!!
This must be crippling the club trap/skeet shooters, not to mention the handloading community?? Has anyone analyzed the per shell cost at $40/bag? The last time I loaded-in, was at $13.00/bag for Lawrence Magnum and I thought that was high..........Where is the ceiling here????
PS---How many FPS can I get out of a 1/4 oz ,12 Ga load.........LOL
TOOL MAN
OT---Crisis situation???

Toolman: $40 lead will equal about $4.00 per box for reloads if you don't count the cost of the hull. In case quantity my ammo distributor is charging $5.00 per box for Estates (this week). The $1.00 differential between reloads and Estates has been the norm around here for a while. I find it hard to reload for a $1.00 per box. I do reload 10ga and Bismuth. 10ga savings are about $.85 per shell, bismuth is about $1.00 per shell. Better sell your Parkers so you can afford to shoot your Foxes!

Local it is about $37/bag.Don't forget the primers. They are up the same percentage as lead ($140/5000). With the prices of factory loaded shells going up weekly. Factory 410 and 28 ga. can push $10-14 / box.
Still pays to load your own for those custom shells the vintage guns like so much, but I am shooting the 410 more. The 410's also shoot nice in the Savage 410er's well. They just don't fit in all of the Foxes.
