Very Early B grade 12ga.
I recently purchased an Early B grade 12 gauge 30" Full & Mod W/some nice case color, appears to be all original metal and wood finish. From what I've learned from this forum it's too early of a gun to have any info available . S/N is # 2174 . Any one with an idea of year of mfg ? 1st or 2nd Year maybe ? Thank you for any input. I will try to take and post some pics... jb ( ylwdog )

Re: Very Early B grade 12ga.
Your gun was probably made in early 1906. The very earliest Ansley H. Fox doubles are marked on the watertable "PAT'D AUG. 1, 1905 AND OTHER PTNTS PEND'G." A bit later as other Patents were granted the roll stamp used was "PAT'D AUG.1,1905, OCT.17,1905, JAN.16,1906."--

Serial numbers 1733 and 2963 both have this three-date Patent roll-stamping, so I'd imagine your gun falls in these 1906 guns.
I've never seen an Ansley H. Fox double with just the two 1905 Patent dates? Anyone have such a gun?
After the A.H. Fox Gun Co. bought the factory of the Philadelphia Arms Co. in late 1906, they began including 1902 and 1904 Patent dates that were originally assigned to Philadelphia Arms Co. in the roll-stamping on the watertable.
