Would anyone hazard an estimate of the production date of a Sterlingworth serial number in the very low 377000's?

I'd guess 1939. The highest serial number 16-gauge Fox-Sterlingworth I've recorded is 378404, a Fox-Sterlingworth Ejector Brush with twin ivory sights. It was at Greentop Sporting Goods north of Richmond, Virginia, in November 2001. The gun looked virtually new, but looked like the parts had been fitted by beating them together with hammers!! The two Fox-Sterlingworths I have recorded in the 3770xx range were built on the flat sided SP- frame, as was 396996.

As is the gun I was questioning. In your reserch have you been able to formulate an estimate of the number of the flat side frame guns were built?

I believe the number of flat-side frame Fox-Sterlingworths is an unknowable number. The one 12-gauge I lettered has no mention on the card that it is on a flat-side frame. Same for draw-bolt frames. So far I've only recorded flat-sided frame 12- and 16-gauge Fox-Sterlingworths. Anyone out there have a 20-gauge Fox-Sterlingworth on the flat-sided frame? Smallbore drawbolt?

Dave- I once had a 16 gauge drawbolt with a standard frame decades ago. It was the first I'd ever noticed. I'm sorry but I have no record of the SN.- Don
