PAC gun wood type?
I'm getting ready to tie into this PAC gun for a restock, I'm guessing from the old stock that the bottom grades had American black without much figure? Jerry

Re: PAC gun wood type?
I just ordered a piece. According to excerpt out of the catalog from PAC in McIntosh's book it was stocked with French walnut. Man this thing sure looks like American black but...gonna go with Researcher and the catalog. Jake

Jake,
Man that is exactly how mine would have look if I were to let it go.

Re: PAC gun wood type?
Jerry,
when I got it I noticed some movement in the but stock, checked it out before I shot it, and that was hard to do. Well I'm in the process, long process for me, because I want to do things as right as I can. Might even even get it re-checkerd. Its a shooter because the forearm numbers don't not match the rest of the gun. 1912 on the gun and 1911 on the forearm. 59xxxx on the gun and 57xxxx on the forearm. Looks like a fun project you have with that gun. Can't wait to see the outcome. Someone sure did some repair jobs on it. I wish it could talk. Take care.

Re: PAC gun wood type?
Clayborn is talking an A.H. Fox Gun Co. Sterlingworth pin-gun, not a Philadelphia Arms Co. gun.

Re: PAC gun wood type?
Yep right your are Researcher, just looked at the gun and to me they looked the same so went off on ignorance, anyway a quick lesson would be appreciated. And then it hit me Parker Arms Company. Duh!!

Re: PAC gun~ Rotary Bolt?
Being primarily an L.C. Smith freak I didn't realize for a long time that the PAC guns and the pin guns were not the same. My brother who is a Fox freak straightened me out on the subject. He has owned some really rare Foxes through the years but of course didn't hold on to them as when we were young we simpy didn't have the money. Same as some really oddball Smith guns I've had. Now that I could afford to own them, I can't find them!
Question. I've never had a PAC gun apart, does it have a rotary bolt like a Sterlingworth of does it have some other lockup? It has an extension that appears to be for a rotary bolt of some type. Thanks, Jerry
