12 Gauge Sterlingworth 2 Barrel set

Post by sfcmosteller »

Just purchased another fine Fox, 12 Gauge Sterlingworth, #123766, Philly gun has 30' barrels and a second set of 26" barrels with both forearms all #'s match the gun, though the second set of barrels are marked Savage in Utica, super nice gun, locks up tight and has a lot of remaining case color, it may have had a re-stock in the past but wood to metal fit is excellent, could not pass it up for the price, I have had my eye on this gun for over a year, it was on consignment in a gun store in VA. Any information on this Fox is must appreciated!

Hello David: Sounds like you picked up a very nice Fox. I was fortunate to buy a Fox Sterlingworth Brush Ejector gun, a few years ago, with two sets of barrels: one 26 inches M&IC and one 32 inches F&F, both with forearms all w/ SN 103079 built in 1925 and consigned to the Watkins Cottrell Company of Richmond, Virginia. You should order a letter from Mr. Callahan on yours. You might be surprised what you find.

Best Regards as Always, George
