hammer spring stuck

Post by lostpair »

The right hammer spring on my CE Grade will not come out after the hammer is removed. It compresses and rebounds briskly, but stops cold when the collar is about 1/4" out. Pulling on it sharply with a needle nose is ineffective. This barrel misfires frequently. I suspect that the collar or spring is fractured, and locking the collar and spring within its channel. Has anyone dealt with this problem?

the mainspring is catching on the mainspring ejector follower.that is the piece you are calling collar it has a long stem that extends to the nose of the frame.probably be best to take the gun to a good double gunsmith who is familar with Foxes. Bobby

Worked with Parker expert Dave Fjelline. He got the follower and assemby out. The "pin" that alighs the shaft through the spring broke and canted the main spring assembly, suppressing its extension. The hammer is back hitting hard, but now the ejector won't trip - until we repair that pin or sear that goes on the notched shaft. Thank bbman for the insight on that.
