20 Gauge Sterlingworth with Straight Stock

Post by sfcmosteller »

I just purchased a 20 gauge Sterlingworth with a staight stock with a jotsam red pad, looks all original #262976, never seen one with straight stock. I also own a really nice sigle trap gun, with 2 barrels serial#400274. Any help with information on the 20 gauge is much appreciated.

Well you made quite a find. If the straight stock is original to the gun and the Jostam Anti Flinch pad makes it appear that it is you have a quite rare Skeet and Upland Special. There is a nice discussion of the Skeet and Upland Special at http://www.foxcollectors.com/My%20Forum ... f=2&t=2660.

Others will chime in on your equally rare Single Barrel Trap gun.

Three of the four 20-gauge Fox-Sterlingworth Skeet & Upland Game Guns I have recorded are in the 2625xx range. The 262xxx range is also transitioning from Philadelphia guns to Uticas guns and guns marked "Sterlingworth" on the sides of the receiver and those mareked "Fox-Sterlingworth". We need to see pictures of this gun and all the particulars on it. You can get a letter on it by writing the Savage historian --
