Re: fox sterlingworth 16ga.
Welcome, and congrats on a great gun. My 16ga ejector is c. 1935 and is my absolute favorite gun; hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. I'll be anxious to see how close yours dates to the one I have. The only way to date yours for sure is with a factory letter, but if you post the serial number you can at least get close.

What you have there is an extractor gun. No ejector anchor in the fore end wood.
Recoil is most noticed when I miss

Re: fox sterlingworth 16ga.
What tbranch has there is one of the fairly scarce 16-gauge Fox-Sterlingworths built on the flat-sided SP-frame. I'd like to know the complete serial number and barrel length of the gun so I can add it to my table of observed Sterlingworths. The two SP-frame 16-gauge Fox-Sterlingworths I currently have listed are 376996 and 377013. If you are uncomfortable posting your serial number on the internet you can email me at AHFCA@comcast.net
As for getting a date on your gun, the only way to do that is to get a letter from the Savage historian -- http://www.foxcollectors.com/ah_fox/con ... tters.html
That published serial number list that is available various places on the internet and was originally compiled and published by Lightner Library in 1976 is essentially worthless for Savage-era Fox-Sterlingworths.

Thanks for the input. Here is the link to one pictured on our web site -- http://www.foxcollectors.com/ah_fox/con ... th_10.html
So far I've found these flat-sided Fox-Sterlingworths in 12- and 16-gauges but I haven't recorded one yet in 20-gauge.
