Need some advice. First of all I enjoy this site so much you all are wealth of help information and really a nice bunch of guys. I have a Fox B H series with double triggers, anyway the lever locks up to the left and I was reading on how they should be to the right. The gun is in very good condition and locks up tight etc. Was wondering what you thought and if it was a big deal or just a cosmetic issue. Haven't had the gun to long, looked nice, fit well so I traded for it.

Guess if I said that I had a A.H. Fox Sterlingworth I would have gotten a response. I'll have one of those pretty soon, but in the mean time my Fox B will have to do.

If you want to check to see if the gun is off face, remove the fore end. Now grab the barrels out toward the muzzle end and give the gun a good shake back and forth. If you've got a problem there, you'll feel movement. That means your lock up is not so good. From the side of the action, with good light and a white back ground, if you see a space between the chamber end of the barrels and the action face, that's not good either. Wear is probably the reason that the lever is to the left and if it is a problem, these 2 checks will show that. I only have one B model and it's in almost new condition with the lever to the right (quite far,actually) and I've never had it apart so I don't feel qualified to give a good guess as to anything else that might be causing it to be left of center. On some Model Bs, the top of the extension rib seems to be the limiter of lug travel, and consequently, lever position. I owned a brand new Model B that had bad lever position. A whack on the top part of the extension rib with a plastic hammer put more pressure on the lug and corrected the lever position. OK, this is not the answer most Fox guys want to hear, but it's the way it is.
