George,
never said you were. I was asking the question. With all the hype and then all the secrecy and vague responses, it did lead a number of readers to speculate.

That's O.K. Brian, but you could have raised the question without the expelative. I was merely protecting my friend until the question of ownership was resolved. I initially brought it up because I felt that it would be of interest to the membership here and it was. BTW There is a 20 bore Super Fox HE coming to auction March 14th. at Greg Martin's Lot #1362.

Best Regards, George

George, we'll expect to see BW in your "other items" category toward the end of March. Murphy

Bill, I wish that it was so. If I was able to buy it I would certainly want to keep it around for awhile, but it's going to be way, way, way out of my league. It will, however, be interesting to see what happens.

Best regards, George

Julia's catalogue arrived today and I must say that they did a magnificant job photographing and describing "Bo Whoop" in a four page spread, pp. 108-111, complete with a photograph of Mr. Buck holding a Canada Goose in his right hand and cradleing Bo-Whoop in the other. It also shows the original (or possibly second) stock as well as the beautiful new one by Mr. Kelly. It goes a long way toward explaining the history of Bo-Whoop and how it ended up there.

Would someone get me straightened out on the broken stock?Bo-whoop's stock had a recoil pad[someone even ID'd the brand]Does the broken stock included with the auction gun have a checkered butt as some have described? If so, someone hypothesized that Nash could have had the gun restocked, perhaps by Mr. Highsmith of Mason gunsmiths. He was still working several years ago,I do not know of his status today but if available has anyone asked him about this?

In going through Nash's books and pictures I'm convinced that originally BoWhoop had a typical A.H. Fox Gun Co. XE-Grade stock and forearm with the Jostam Hy-Gun Recoil pad, and that is the gun as seen in these pictures --

The lower gun in the above picture is, I believe, Nash's gun of the pair Henry Bartholomew got for he and Nash to use at his estate on the Potomac, 33050. Note how different the pitch is on the lowere gun. My hunch is Nash had Becker restock BoWhoop to match the dimensions of 33050, and that is the wood we see on BoWhoop in these pictures --

I believe the broken stock with the gun and the forearm on it are its second set of wood.

This makes sense;it also explains the lace-on pad in the last picture. Thanks from Duelling Oaks,Hugh.
