Have a week long bird hunt scheduled in Central Maine starting next Monday. Pretty much a do it yourself affair. Taking my two girls with the blond hair along to have some fun. The guns making the trip are two Fox's. Both are 16 gauge's. One a very early A grade (33rd one ever made) that letters at 5 lb's 10 ounces and a 6 lb 10 ounce Uttica SW, with longer barrels. The little fox is choked at .007 and .017 and it's heavier brother is .005 and .015. I'll be hopefully posting some pictures as well as a updates next week. As per the norm on these out of state trips, weather is the primary concern. As I get older, heavy rain will make we stay inside the cottage while in years gone by, I'd grab the dogs and head out anything short of a monsoon. Heck, its Maine, if nothing else some Lobstah will be in the belly fighting it out with some steamers.
Here's my two blonds. One's 9 and the other 8 months old. This is old hat to the 9 year old. She has hunted from Maine to Montana. This will be the pups first time hunting. Should be an interesting time indeed.
Sounds like a great trip, I love traveling to hunt, new places and new people. The older I get the more I like to try new places and Maine is on my list. My hunting buddies are in Maine now at Libby Camps, I stayed home this year to celebrate my anniversary. This is the first year I have been home for my anniversary in 10 years, I have a great spouse!!! I talked to to my friends and the weather looks dicey and the leaves are still on the trees, it should make the hunting challenging. Good luck and nice looking Goldens, I have a white muzzled Lab, the old timers make you think of good times and the young ones are you hope for the future. Enjoy and give the old Foxes a good work out.
Tough hunt, but that's why they call it hunting. A few pictures of my first morning. This was my 97 year old Fox A grade in 16 gauge. Had a pretty decent day but gosh am I tired and yes, those are a pair of Golden Retrievers. My 9 year old Abby and my 7 month old Gracie.
