Here is my English Cocker, Madi with a woodcock shot with Fox CE 16 g and 1 oz of 7.5 nickel plated shot reload. She not only retrieves woodcock but likes to take them back and carry them around. Here also is the happy dog handler with a heretical Parker PH

There seems to be something about woodcock hunting which invokes the comedy of errors. We did have fun, but there was the stuck safety at the moment of the shot, my fall on a stump at another shot, a gun butt in the clavicle and not the shoulder for another shot--one could go on, not to mention the steady rain. But for all that, yes, what could be more enjoyable than the October hard woods, handsome dogs, and an occasional hit on a bird. Glad you like the pix.

Does your Cocker retrieve ducks? Maybe I should get a black English Cocker to go with my black Lab.

She never tried ducks, but I have a friend with an identical dog--male--who he has trained to retrieve from water. These dogs have big paddle paws and love to swim.
