Re: 20 ga Sterly project
Looks like she will be a sweet one. I have been contemplating doing the same straight stock conversion with a Sterlingworth 16 gauge with 30 inch barrels. Did you have the tangs straightened to raise the comb? The reason I ask is that the gun came to me fitted with a nicely fitted but unfinished straight hand stock the tangs are not straightened and it seems like if finished it will have a whole lot of drop. I'm OK with 2 3/4 inches of drop but as is this gun appears that it will finish out to almost 3 1/2 inches of drop.

Re: 20 ga Sterly project
TB this is the fourth time I have done a straight grip conversion from a pistol 3 Foxes and 1 parker trojan. You can see the
16 I did last year in the pictures of your Fox thread under16 sterly. I have not had to bend the tangs to get the dimensions I needed on any of them and I dont think any came out looking like boat paddels even though they might be used as one. I extended the tang on the trigger bow on all of them. On the parker the stock was heavy through the wrist and allowed me to reshape the stock and use the original wood after extending the trigger guard and re- checkering. The Foxes are thinner through the wrist and need new wood.good luck with the project

Re: 20 ga Sterly project
Thank for the information, it gives me hope. I fitted it with a stock for a 20 gauge stock (glass bedding took care of the slight gap at the head of the stock) to get it into action but after the season I will proceed with finishing the straight hand stock which did come with a modified long extension trigger guard.
