Picked up a circa 1910 A grade that I “assume” got “upgraded” a good while back . By whom etc that’s room for thought and questions !

Great looking gun. Looks like it’s got great potential.

Against my better judgement I bought this gun mainly because I liked the engraving and checkering . I’ve actually been slowly liquidating what Fox and Smith Guns I have or had then adding more uhm Parker’s . But this gun intrigued me without a doubt . After seeing the card and making a crude measure of drop in 100% sure this Guns been restocked . The top lever is left of center so I’ll have that addressed next week . Also hopefully replace the pad . Also while the stocks off I’ll see if the stock is capable of being shot some . If it is I’ll wait a couple months before sending to another friend to address the screw in the head and the finial inlay that’s missing . Not sure what I’ll use this thing for as I’m not really a water Fowler or turkey potter . But I can atleast shoot it at sporting some and possibly kill a deer with buckshot and or slugs .

I’m okay with having the wood strengthened and possibly refinished . I’m also okay with a reblue on the barrels . I’m just a little undecided how to clean up the rest of the metal parts without wearing the engraving anymore . And no I’d rather not have the parts re color cased .

I think he was saying that this gun was upgraded from an Original A grade 12 gauge sometime in the past. I could be wrong for sure. Since this is an old thread, one wonders what happened to the gun.

Over the years, several guns that started life as A-/AE-Grades in inventory, got "practiced" on by William Gough. Serial number 2728 --

Neat gun Craig, even the way it is now.

It must have been a beauty back when the work was done on it.

By the way, what's the rest of the serial number if you don't mind sharing? 10??? looks like.

Thanks for showing us.
