Beaver Dam with a "poor mans superfox"
Let me begin by telling you this was the trip of a lifetime for an old Georgia boy and his son. One that I hope is not my last as Beaver Dam is a special place to fox guys. In this time of COVID I wasn't sure if we would be able to go but thank the Lord we were able to make it right after thanksgiving. I took with me a gun that was posted on this board before within this section and was the subject of a DGJ article "Few Ducks in the Desert" a couple of years ago. Read the article for the full information but in a nutshell the old girl is a 26" BBL 12 gauge sterlingworth built on a trap frame and factory chambered for 3" shells. It smacked of a dual purpose turkey and beaver pond gun when I saw it and thankfully Mr. Frank Srebro "Silvers" was willing to part with it. I have since killed two turkeys with it and many ducks. To round out our group, a Lawyer friend of mine shot his 20 gauge A grade fox, his nephew shot a remington 1100, and my son, who is a Veterinarian shot his 30" BBL 16 gauge sterlingworth on this trip. He's a young fellow but, yes, he has the double gun disease real bad just like the rest of us. I guess I gave it to him. A good time was had by all and few ducks got missed. To all the old and young codgers here, have a great holiday!

Well, I hit the wrong button and posted it so forgive the typos if there are any. Also, since this is my first post, my pictures don't show on my monitor. If someone can help a tech challenged fellow I would appreciate it.

Jim, an excellent writeup and thank you for a tip of the hat. Your pics look very good and it sure sounds like a good outing at Beaver Dam. I'm happy your Fox is out doing what she was made to do. Anyone interested in info on Jim's Fox will find her featured in my article Few Ducks in the Desert in the Double Gun Journal, Volume 29, Issue 4 = Winter 2018.

Stan, the guy on the left is my lawyer friend Steve Gupton. I didn’t ask Mike or Lamar for permission to post their pic so I kept them out of the limelight. They were both there though. They are great guys.

They both like shooting Foxes, too. Great guys. Mike and I hit it off when we found that both of us went to Philmont Scout Ranch many years ago. We talked that, and farming, for a long time.
Glad y'all had a good trip. Did you, by chance, have a meal or two and the Blue and White? Best potato soup I've ever had.
Best, SRH

We ate an evening meal at the Hollywood but the Blue and White was always too crowded so due to the present issues we declined this time. It’ll give us something to go back for.

The Blue and White is crowded at 4:30 am this time of year! I understand your wanting to avoid crowds right now.
Glad you had a good trip and made it back safely.

Great pictures and thanks for sharing your adventure. About a month ago I reread "The Buchingham Trail". Kudos to you for putting together such nice duck hunting experience.
