The SPEcial Turkey Hunt
Had the chance to get several days of Turkey hunting in over the last week. Temps have ranged from 32 degrees with a dusting of Snow to 72 degrees and sunny along with a bunch of rain over the last two days. Finally was able to connect this evening. Three Toms responded to the yelps from a couple of different calls and a hen and jake decoy set. I decided this year to hunt with a unique SPE. This gun is a 12 ga. SPE with 32” F/XF barrels, splinter forend, SRPG, ejectors and single non-selective trigger. I have never seen another 32” SPE out there. Was fortunate enough to get this gun a couple of years ago from another member on this forum!

Re: The SPEcial Turkey Hunt
Tom, our bird population has increased significantly in the last 10 - 15 years. I’m on the West side of the state but it seems to be that way across many parts of the state. This year the DNR extended our season and gave hunters more flexibility for which season slot to draw for. Still only 1 bird per hunter.

Re: The SPEcial Turkey Hunt
Congratulations! Nice bird and great pictures. Were you hunting in the Ada / Lowell area? By the way... beautiful gun. Jeff
Brett, I don't think I've ever "handled" a SPE and that sure is a good looking gun. I love the pistol grip, and the forearm is very nice. Maybe you could post a few more pictures sometime?

Jeff, got this bird not to far from you. East of the Meyer Lake Road/Belding intersection. Second year I’ve hunted this farm. I’ll get some better pics of the gun this weekend and try to post the letter.
