Excellent! I sure wish we had that many ducks on the eastern end of the great State of Tennessee!

That's terrific, Spyder! I have not had my HE out yet this year, but plan to. I have read about Reelfoot lake duck hunting. Were you able to hunt from a public blind of did you go with an outfitter?

We use an outfitter that owns a grandfathered private blind near the preserve. Reelfoot Lake is a remote and unique part of the world. The shallow lake/swamp was formed by the 1811 New Madrid Earthquake that diverted the Mississippi River into the low lying area of Lake and Obion Counties in TN. Bob McDill has written many humorous articles in Shooting Sportsman about Reelfoot duck hunting and the shallow hulled boats for navigating the stump filled water.

I know Reelfoot is a famous duck hunting lake. I sure would like to hunt there some day. That's a nice looking Super you have, Spyder. Jim

Great pic, spyder. Thanks.

Reelfoot is indeed a very special place. That earthquake changed the entire landscape of that part of the world. It also formed Crowley's Ridge, which runs north and south through eastern Arkansas, where I normally travel to hunt ducks each year. The earthquake on December 16, 1811, was of such a magnitude that the Mississippi River flowed backwards for hours. There were two more earthquakes in January and February. All three are said to have been of a magnitude of 7.5 or greater.

My only duck hunting at Reelfoot, so far, was the opening two days of the early teal season a couple years ago. We hunted the lake itself, from a nice blind which had a "hole" created in the giant lily pads that cover much of the shallower portions of the lake. Hunted with Billy Blakley, the head guide at the Blue Bank Resort, where we stayed. It was as enjoyable a two day hunt as I've ever had. The food and accommodations at the Blue Bank were great, and the entertainment by the guides was memorable as well. Hunting teal I didn't take my Super, but it would be a great place, later in the season, to use it on "mallets".
