I have a lotto hunt coming up in a few weeks near Georgetown, SC, and am looking forward to it. I am probably going to take my BE Fox and give it a spin. Supposed to get a good hunt near Beaufort too. Will probably take a Parker on that one.

it was a short walk to the limit of the boats progress

as said - disheartening - I had hopes of a formative year for Macallan, my young golden- just not to be

That looks like work!!!!

This ice locking out duck hunting reminds me of a story back when I was a teenager. I had built a Banaget Bay boat out of cedar. My younger brother and I went to one our favorite duck hunting lakes for a morning hunt. The lake was totaly frozen over with about 5/8" of ice. We wanted to get to a tule patch that was surounded with open water (ice) a few hundred yards away from the landing. We started out with me using a push pole and my brother one of the oars breaking ice. It took some doing, but we made it to the tule patch and put out some decoys. We shot the only 2 ducks we saw. Before we picked up and headed back to the landing my brother said he lost his wallet. Well, we headed back on the broken ice trail we had made going out. On the way, we stopped for a rest. My brother looks down in the water and there is his wallet laying on the bottom! It was a incredable miracle that we found it. What luck! After that trip my boat was so chewed up by the ice that I had to fiberglass the bottom for future trips.

Jim, good story. I'm assuming that the water wasn't very deep and your brother was able to reach down and get his wallet. I hope he didn't have to dive in to get it.

The water was less less than a foot deep. That's why it was good for ducks. Jim

Stan we had 12 birds down but no dog that day due to ice, lost a bird we thought was feet up. One day we only shot mallards the next mallards and blacks. Lucy made it yesterday as the ice melted but the hunting was slower only 5 ducks. May be Lucy's last duck hunt as it's time next year to hand over duck duties to Nellie my new pup. A couple more pics.

That's the kind of pictures I love to see, Craig. I have been following your posts about Lucy and to me she dosn't seem that old.
