Earley CE and Parker Bros Sporting Goods

Post by al »

Still doing my research on my low # CE grade and how it got to New Rochelle,NY. Growing up I remember Parker Bros Sporting Goods(no association with Parker Bros shotguns) The store was in New Rochelle and has been closed for maybe 30 years.Since the original owner of my CE grade lived here I was wondering if he could of purchased the gun there.
Anyway,my question is would anyone be familiar with this store or(longshot) have a catalog.
Thanks

Parker Distributors

Post by Brian »

I remember back in the 70's there was a place "downstate" ( I live in Delaware County) that was called Parker Distributors. They had a retail store and had a catalog. They sold guns, scopes, ammo and all that stuff at very good prices. Sort of a distributor with a retail outlet. Retail pricing was below retail but above dealer but very good value. We used to get the catalog and drool over the guns, scopes and prices.
Maybe a different interation of Parker bros Sporting Goods. I think I have a catalog form the 70's but I am in Afghanistan so i cant get to it. Sorry.

Parker Sporting Goods catalogs are often on eBay.

The New Rochelle company being discussed is more often referred to as "Parker Distributors". Any gun crank over 45 years old will have old catalogs from this company in their junk box. You won't find much interesting in there. I don't know what you would find in a Parker Distributors catalog back in the days of the A.H.Fox gun, or even whether they were in business back then.

I assume you can't get a good Calahan letter on the gun.

Mr Calahan was unable to find any record. He did thank me for letting him know where the gun is and thanked me for the pictures I sent.
