No connection to this gun.....Gunbroker item #847558843.
Looks different from my Savage Sterlingworth 20 gauge. Has anyone seen guns with this type of lettering before? I think it looks nicer. Looks like it has all the Philadelphia features, could this have been made shortly after the Savage take-over?

The guns with the large FOX STERLINGWORTH lettering seem to be in the 128xxx --

and 129xxx range --

By the 130xxx range we are back to smaller letters --

However, there are regular Philadelphia STERLINGWORTHs still in the 128xxx and 129xxx range. Also, I've recorded a nest of small letter FOX STERLINGWORTH Traps in the 1220xx range.

Dave, you mean I have to continue searching for more Sterlingworths? I love those big letters.

Was the larger lettering unique to 12-ga. Sterlingworths or are there some 20s and 16s out there as well?

I haven't recorded the large lettering on the sides of a smallbore receiver.

Here is a pic of Savage era 16 Ga. #367469 that appears to have larger stamping, although it is not the same script as the 12 pictured above.
