Senate Bill Would Reclassify Antique Firearms

Senate Bill Would Reclassify Antique Firearms:
U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) wants to make something new about old guns. He introduced S. 443, a bill that would modify the definition of antique firearms and how they’re regulated. Currently, all firearms made before 1899 are classified “antiques” and are unregulated. Sen. Cassidy wants to strike that date and change to 100 years old for non-NFA firearms. That would make any firearm made in 1919 exempt from regulation, if the bill got signed into law this year.

Would that be a rolling 100 year exemption year over year? I suppose that would be too confusing. Regardless 1919 is a lot better than 1899. I would support that bill.

I would support that, too. If someone can provide a link to a site where I can petition my legislator to support it I will do so.

Stan, that would be S.443. You should be able to look that up or just contact your Senators and urge them to support it.
