It's marked as an A with c grade engraving but barrels are ? seems like a lot of rust on bbls

Very refreshing receiver engraving compared to the "same old" "same old" of standard "C" engraving that you usually find on Fox guns.

The reciever looks like C fox engraving the bottom of forend looks like late A style and barrel wedges ? Good wood better than A is the fit correct? mabe an A grade that was sent back for rework?

This DE-Special with a serial number just a bit higher looks quite similar --

The engraving on the barrels of the gun in question here looks a lot like the barrel engraving of the first XE-Grade, see Tom Kidd's article in The Double Gun Journal, Volume Four, Issue 1, pages 72 and 73.

Not too long ago someone posted this unusual gun that falls in between the two above --

Pretty amazing looking gun. If guns could talk this one wouldn't have a nice story to tell. Wonderful walnut on that gun.
