Sticky thread list of gunsmiths?

Post by jfritzke26 »

Has anyone ever considered a "sticky thread" listing of known gunsmiths for specific work? For example, a list of trusted quality stock fitters, engravers, full restorers, choke/barrel specialists, etc. The list could be organized by job specialization, specialization by brand or gun type (doubles vs everything else), and region of the country.

It'd be helpful for guys like me that are currently relying on podcasts and pretty Instagram photos. I'd rather have a list of vetted, trustworthy gunsmiths that have a following of experienced hunters and collectors.

Problem is anyone who is any good is already backed up and is not taking on new clients. Most of us have guns out for some sort of work and most have been out for a minimum 9 months. If we know someone with fast turn around time we'd be keeping it close to the vest.
