I wouldn’t dare touch those 32” barrels! Somewhat rare and you can’t put it back after it’s gone.

Re: Our Springer "Nitro"
Handsome Fella! I wish you many happy days together in the field, or on the couch, or in the truck--Spaniels love to be right there with you. I do love a Spaniel though!

Some guys have all the luck! Nice score and I’m sure it will come out amazing. I’ve got to get me a Super for the duck hunting I do.

Re: My buddy
Jim- Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Jeff- I agree, it is one of my favorite pictures. Just needed that strap to fill up. It was near the end of season and the hunting was slow. We had one pair come in and this one didn’t make it out. It is a woodie and as my buddy says, it was the “Karen”. Since M...

Re: My buddy
The Boykin Spaniel Society is the predominate registry for Boykin Spaniels. They publish a quarterly magazine and this winter quarter, they published a story of mine. It features Ansley’s work front and center in the pictures. I didn’t know exactly where to post but since the article is somewhat dog...

Re: Pintail - Pintail - Pintail
Sounds like a great time! I should really make a trip out there to hunt some ducks. Pintails and wigeon would be a dream pair and a change up from our woodies and hoodies here in GA. And a fortunate Cinnamon Teal would put a smile on that would be hard to wipe off!

CE Woody
Decided to give it a try this morning with my CE 12ga. Not too many flying this morning, but some better shooting should have got a limit of woodies along with a hoodie that I still can’t figure out how he made it out. I guess those few limbs were his saving grace! Such is duck hunting in the swamps...

Re: Meet my new Lab Nellie
Jimmy: I have had 5 hunting labs. My first four dogs I did all the training and hunt testing. For Nellie I have used a pro named Tony Carlo, Lake Effect Gun Dogs to coach me through the process and train her in the winter months. You will never have a great duck hunting dog unless you play a big ro...

Re: Meet my new Lab Nellie
Impressive dog Mr. Larter, sir! While most everyone appreciates a good hunting dog, few can comprehend the time and resources that go into making one great unless they are involved themselves. If you don’t mind me asking, do you do all of your training yourself or do you also have the assistance of ...

Stan, Your assumption is correct, I’m a peach- born and raised! Though we’ve never actually met, you’ve been a gentleman in our limited interactions here. I was relieved to hear of your recovery from your accident and will continue to pray for blessings upon you. I hope you get the chance to get out...

Re: My buddy
Thanks guys! VATurkey- For sure on that! He’ll go anywhere a Lab will and on our hot doves days, he’ll still be trucking when they need a break. Very heat tolerant. Jim- I’ll be sure to do that if I can get into some! Here’s a pic from last year when he even retrieved.... gasp....a merganser someone...

Re: My buddy
I have to brag on my boy. I don’t run a lot of the hunt test circuit, but I figured my boy at least deserved some letters to leave his mark. We got his HRC Started title this past weekend. We train hard, have fun, and mostly hunt together. I do all the training myself, so it meant a lot. I’m proud o...
