Re: Sterlingworth & Trojan
That is a neat advertisement to see, Silvers. I am sure that nobody would have thought then that with 120 subscriptions, they would have been smart to get 6 Winchester Model 36's for the best long-term investment, assuming they couldn't get sub-gauges unless listed. A big part of me posting the two ...

Re: Food for thought - readers versus posters?
My two cents on the subject: I have been a registered user for about two years but just recently started checking the forums regularly when I became a member 2 months ago. I check them primarily to get information on the guns from other collectors that I am not going to find anywhere in print. I hav...

Re: Thoughts on value?
The book lists this SP #203974 as the last gun shipped out to the sporting goods trade on December 12th, 1946. The gun that Researcher mentioned was taken from the factory as the last new in the box gun sold from the warehouse to Roe Clark in 1956. Very interesting that you can say the gun is listed...

Re: Thoughts on value?
I just noticed that you mentioned it being the last one sold to the public, so I am guessing that you have already verified this with the book. Interestingly, I posted a link to photos of another SPE on the members forum that has a higher serial number than yours (#203980) that sold last year. Of co...

Re: Thoughts on value?
I don't have the book with me now, but I am pretty sure that your gun is listed in McIntosh's book by serial number as the very last Fox ever shipped. I am sure that someone will check on this to verify and give the date it was shipped as listed in the book before I have a chance to on Monday when I...

Re: 1948 model B
I guess that I should never be so definitive when claiming that they were factory, but they certainly appeared factory. However, there is one for sale online now by a well-known dealer that he claims to be as new. I will post a link to it on the members page. I have also seen at least one other with...

Re: 1948 model B
Researcher: Did the original Model B's have both the gun-metal black and case-hardened finish available in 1940? I know that the ad shown in McIntosh's book only has the gun-metal black finish available. I also know that the SP and SPE ads in the book only show the gun-metal black finish available a...

Re: 1948 model B
I have an early Model B with a splinter snap-on forend and gun metal black finish. It is a great shooting gun that I don't mind taking through the brush. Although it is definitely not the quality of a real Fox gun.

Re: My favorite "Pin Gun"
My budget requires that I stick to the lesser grade Foxes for now, so I was thrilled when I could pick up this gun in this condition. I am also trying to buy a Philadelphia Arms A grade from the local Gander Mountain, but they think that it is a $4000 gun because some yoohoo came in and told them so...

My favorite "Pin Gun"
I figured I would post my favorite "Pin Gun" as my first post on the forum just to see what comes of it.
