Re: Rosey Running SD 2024

Daryl, SD is a special place for sure!! We choose to hunt late season due to everyone’s schedule so we know the odds for wind and snow increase for late November, part of the deal for sure!

SD w/the new Sterlingworth S&U 12 Gauge

Woke up this morning to a blustery SD morning w/winds increasing as the day progressed. While we can start pheasant hunting at 9 a.m. MT where we are at we waited until about 9:45 to hit a shelter belt that we save for windy days such as this. It’s an L shaped belt that surrounds the rancher’s feed ...

Rosey Running SD 2024

Made the 17 hour trip to Perkins County, SD for our annual hunting trip. Got here Friday evening about 6:30 p.m. woke up to a light covering of fresh snow and 10 degrees. Good news is we had minimal wind today and it warmed up to a balmy 22 degrees which was actually quite pleasant. I have never see...

Re: Better check those chambers

Wow, those are very short chambers! One would wonder with shooting 2 3/4” target loads in those 2 7/16” chambers what the additional pressure would be?!

Re: 2024 Maine and NH uplands

Great pics! Love the last pic of Bella w/her head resting on the log! Tell us about the 16 S&U please. Barrel length and chokes. That would be a great gun. Envious that you hunted 12 days straight!!

Re: Hunting for Woodcock

Roger,
Thanks for the report and pics. I think your observations on the woodcock migration is the norm this year. With the warmer, drier conditions the migration was definitely delayed in MI. I will have to look at that migration map for the central U.S.

Re: Slow waterfowl season

Jeff,
I would have thought that the rain and wind from this a.m. would have been moving more birds. Hopefully there will be more this afternoon if you are in the blind!
