Re: 1938 16ga Sterlingworth DeLuxe

[quote="Researcher"]Nice find. If that gun letters as a Deluxe, and it certainly has the features, it will be the first Deluxe I've seen with the capless pistol grip stock. Have what I believe to be an identical 16 gauge SW Deluxe. Jostam pad. Twin beads. The center bead is brass. Assuming...

Re: Barrel Wall Thickness

Stan,

I just did as you suggested, and could feel nothing, inside or out. I am feeling confident that Mike Orlen will indeed be able to clean up the blemishes without issues. At two pounds, fourteen ounces, the 28" barrels must be four weight? Thanks much for your input.

Barrel Wall Thickness

The bores of my 16 SW have 99 years worth of imperfections built in, including what looks like a very shallow, partial ring dent about seven inches from the muzzle. No dings or dents are visible on the exterior. No pitting. No reason to believe that the barrels have been messed with other than a rec...

Re: Hard Opening Redux

Similar problem with my 16 gauge SW. Had it stripped and cleaned, end of problem. Shooting RSTs before and after.

Re: hard to open after a few rounds?

Shooting 2 1/2" RSTs only, I had a similar "hard to open after firing "issue with my SW 16. After a thorough strip and clean, it opens the way it should.

Re: Custom 20 Ga SW Project in Future?

I too confess to owning a tarted up SW. I too would not have it any other way, as it is not only purty, but I can occasionally hit something with it. Where I part with Mike is this beaver pond talk. I do hope that Mike decides to toss that beauty my way when he retires, to hell with the beavers! :D

Re: A First

Wow....what a beautiful picture of a memory that will no doubt last a lifetime!! (Only thing missing was your Fox.) God I do love GSP's, especially her markings; ticked/w solid liver head!! Did she hail from upper mid-west breeding...say Michigan or Wisconsin?? Seems a lot of the hardcore German li...

Re: My first CT Woodcock

We do the marinated breasts (soy sauce, olive oil, ginger) on a spanking hot grille. About seven or eight minutes tops. Must be served rare, or they are ruined in my humble opinion. :( I've got 4 of these buggers in the freezer (legs and breasts on the bone) anyone have a good recipe? I've read abou...

LL Bean Commemorative Gun

This is somewhat related to the previous post by Ithaca33. As a 100 year anniversary commemorative, LL Bean is offering a limited number of Merkel custom guns. No knock on Merkels, they are very nice guns, but considering the 15K retail price, I would think that CSMC could have provided a Fox gun, m...

JC, no I unfortunately did not note the serial number. I considered buying the gun, but procrastinated to long as it did not take long to sell.

Re: Sterlingworth engraving

This is a 16 gauge sw that was for sale at the local sporting goods store some time ago. I recall that the asking price was about a grand. I posted the photos here, believe it was August of 2010, and was advised it was simply an after market engraved gun. Thought everyone might like to see these pho...

Google Fox

Ha anyone else seen this web page? It came up when I Googled Fox 16. You will recognize some of the photos as they have been posted on this site at one time, or another. I posted several of them myself. The all seeing eye of Google does not miss much :!: Jay http://www.google.com/search?q=16+gauge+s...

Cool photo. Man, you really had to want to hunt to go out for one duck. Kudos to you and your Golden! Is that an AH Fox O/U?
