Re: Replacement barrels
Update: Drop the barrels off to Jon of Hosford Company. After a thorough inspection of, he believes that he can get all the dents out, most of the pitting, may see a little freckling in the bores. But due to the bulges being in the heavy part of the barrels it will be difficult to eliminate them co...

Re: Replacement barrels
I would like to thank everyone that responded to my posting concerning the barrels of my Fox Sterlingworth. I received today a email from Thomas at Hosford & Company suggesting that I contact Jon to see if they could help. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Hosford is in Ann Arbor, MI base...

Replacement barrels
Back in January I purchased a Sterlingworth 20ga that was advertised on GunBroker as being "Super Nice." Of course some sellers aren't honest and I got a very expensive wall hanger and no support from GunBroker even though I provide evidence that the guy lied to me twice concerning the con...

Re: Extractors to Ejectors?
Ugggghhhh. I feel your pain Clarence. However, I too would have to agree on what your were told. Part it out, try to reclaim a fraction from the fraud angle and file it under "painful lesson learned." I'm assuming this dude did not offer a 3-day, non-shooting inspection, correct? That is ...

Re: Extractors to Ejectors?
I would think it could be done but you would be much better off just buying an ejector gun. My question is in concerning a purchase that I made in what I thought I was a "Super Nice" Sterlingworth 20ga. Brush model that I bought back in January on GunBroker.com, but the seller sold me a g...

Extractors to Ejectors?
Is it possible to retrofit ejectors on a originally extractor Sterlingworth?
If so what is needed to accomplish this and/or does anyone know of a gunsmith that is capable of making this conversions?

Re: Pictures of 3 more of my Fox Guns
The picture showing the 3 open breeches with the break levers to the right exposing the tang. I noticed that the gun to the far right had a hole right below the screw which when closed would be covered by the break lever. My Savage/Fox/Sterlingworth doesn't have this and most Fox's I've seen don't b...

Re: Is there any real difference between a Utica vs. Philly?
If you're looking for a hunting arm I can guarantee you that the birds won't know the difference. I'm looking for a Sterlingworth for a couple of reasons. First is that I just want one of the old American classic and the Sterlingworth seem to fit my current budget. Second is that investment to use ...

Re: Is there any real difference between a Utica vs. Philly?
I think you have a handle on it... there were no true design changes... other than forearm latches, there was hardly ever a "design" change in the S/W until you get to the draw bolt and that is hardly much of a change either. I think you will find, all else being equal, that the Philly gu...

Is there any real difference between a Utica vs. Philly?
I have watch several of the gun auction sites looking for a nice little Sterlingworth 20ga. and have noted that Philly Fox's seem to be in higher demand and command a slightly higher price then the Utica Fox's? Is there something different about the Philly as far as the quality of the workmanship or...

This just goes to show that life isn't fair. But what really makes this terrible is that they're both Phillies to boot! But congratulation on the great finds. Re: Kautzky Auto Single Trigger
I just received permission from Larry to post this e-mail. You might see that he gave his permission in this earlier e-mail, but I had a few more questions and in one of the response he asked that I hold on the posting until he check something out first. I can't wait to send my Fox in but I need to ...

Re: Kautzky Auto Single Trigger
Interesting, possibly Clarence will let us know the result of his contact with Mr. Schuknecht, to include current availablity and pricing beyond this prototyping. Silvers I have just sent a e-mail to Mr. Schuknecht to see if he is open to recreating the trigger for others like myself and will repor...

Re: Kautzky Auto Single Trigger
It apparently is not quite the issue you think it to be Frank. It has already been done by Larry B. Schuknecht at Dutchman Woodworks. Larry had previously built the Lindsey single trigger that Baker Gun Co. used. Last August I received this email from Larry -- Hello David; A customer of mine Dave S...
