Re: Questions about parking at the Southern
I have never parked on the road. The gatekeeper is your friend.

The gate keeper is in charge. Ask him nicely and you can go anywhere you want.

Re: Double Gun Journal
That would be "the end of May". That is soon enough to keep me happy. I am hoping for very little of the "I shot a pheasant" type of article. I think Mr. Cote would weed out such articles.

Re: A Fox Dilemma
Buy a tired 30" gun to ruin with screw chokes, and keep the 32" gun original and maybe just aggressively clean out the pitted bores. I have had more than one gun with "pitted" bores that turned out to not be pitted after some aggressive cleaning.

Re: What to do with this 20 gauge Fox Sterlingworth?
I would work in some kind of oil like Timberlux or Tru Oil after a nice light cleaning of the old finish but only with fine steel wool, no sandpaper. A professional wood or metal refinish will exceed the improved retail value of the gun.

Our "Tom" has the gift of words very much like our late departed Tom Gibbons. "Not a screw turned".

Re: HE 20 Bore and Choke
I thought there would be more interest in the original bores of these guns that few people know anything about.

Tom, I had an E Grade 141, sold it. It seems to be the only one they ever made. It was an Ennis gun.

Re: Colt 1878
If you have chamber inserts, use them. You won't blow up those barrels after all the abuse they have suffered. However, I'm not sure that recheckering the stock is going to get you the result you are looking for. Address the metal work and then decide how far you want to go with the wood. We haven't...

Re: Colt 1878
If that gap looking thing on the left side of the action at the water table is really a shadow, someone might take this gun on as a project. How bad are the barrels?

Re: Colt 1878
Colt letters usually state the dollar amount of engraving, but not usually the grade. I think the "fancy" designation is unusual, although I have not seen enough Colt letters to know for sure. I am not much for bad wood to metal fit, but I sure would have bought that gun. Can you post a pi...
