Re: Vintage Cup Memories

The LaGrange had nothing on The Willows and the "Strange" proprietors. I hope The Willows is still in business when we attend the Game Fair next year. British Sporting Arms and Safari Outfitters make this a great destination.

Re: 2024 Vintagers

We will have to figure out which of the "claimed" Vintager websites to go on for correct information.

Orvis Hill Country Sold??

Sold and leased back to Orvis from what I heard today. The listing is still on You Tube however. Did any of us buy it? 527 acres within sight of Camp David. A Trump purchase?

Re: 2024 Vintagers

Hopefully, the 2025 Vintage Cup will be something different. Maybe the Game Fair.

Re: Guild guns

Is the cocking by the opening of the barrels or by the moving of the lever? I have a Griefelt 29 inch 16 underlever. I can't remember whether the lever cocks the gun or not. I will check it out and post my answer. Your gun is definitely a piece of work. Newsflash! My little 5 1/2 pound Griefelt 16 i...

Re: How do you warm up for bird season?

Warm up? In my debilitated condition, I stand in front of a Ponsness-Warren 375 and crank out .410 shells until I can't stand up any more. Unfortunately, my bird hunting days are over. I still enjoy regular bouts of skeet and five stand with a couple of nice Super Foxes.

Re: Lubaloy Super-Trap Shells

Will we ever forget the shoot at Prospect Hall in West Virginia where Nash's friend "Doc's" Fox and Parker guns were displayed? His outstanding B Grade Parker 8 gauge hammer gun was auctioned several years ago, but the rest of them are reputedly still safe at home.

Re: OGCA Fox Sightings

Good points about timing of brand events. Back in the day when I remembered what end the shot comes out, I shot what I saw as a mediocre score in the Parker team tryouts at the Southern. I had been on the Parker team before and thought I knew what a qualifying score would be. On the way up the road ...

Re: MICRO-GAUGED

Makes me sorry about my conservative bid on the Skeet and Upland at the Guyette auction. May have been one of the better buys at the sale, but I'm selling, not buying.

Re: Ridiculously heavy loads

I believe it was Nitro Cartridge Company that marketed 12 gauge loads well in excess of 2 ounces and 10 gauge 3 ounce loads. I owned some Nitro loads but can't remember what they were. I don't know if I ever shot any.

Re: Hunting Season(s) Approaching - What gun(s) will go with you for opening day?

The advantage of "claiming" one of your birds for another shooter is that you can help him locate the dead bird from your stand rather than walking out into the field. Yup, and it allows you an extra bird or two.

Re: Hunting Season(s) Approaching - What gun(s) will go with you for opening day?

Because of my not so recent debilitated condition, I will be content to wander into the dove field with my sporting clays cart and my Nash Buckingham lettered HE, loaded with common 3-1 1/8-7 1/2 trap loads. When I connect with my first long range bird, I will shout, "Great shot" and wait ...
