Re: need advice
I second the RST suggestion if you are unsure as to chamber length shoot the 21/2 length they break targets like a champ and will save the gun and your shoulder.

Re: Firing Pin - Light hits
I have noticed in the past certain brands of ammo will have their primers set deeper than others (rem game loads commonly have this characteristic). If you couple this with a firing pin that is set to near minimum protrusion you can encounter a light strike. We are only talking about perhaps .005 of...

Re: Fox Gunsmith Specialist
I would not say we had a substantial price increase. We increased the price of our stock making services as we were priced well below our competition for similar quality work. However, the price of all other services remains basically unchanged. Even with the price increase we are still priced below...

Re: Bluing solution
Although I use my own rust bluing solution and do not have experience with commercial concoctions
all slow rust bluing is essentially the same. It is the rusting and boiling of the steel that gives it the color not the chemicals, they simply initiate the rusting process.

Re: Trigger Pull
Hello I have adjusted the trigger pull weight on a good number of foxes. The very heavy weights you described (in particular the 11lbs pull) usually has to do with the sear nose angle and how that angle corresponds to the angle of the bent or hammer notch. If these angles do not correspond properly ...

Re: Touch up blueing?
Blueing touch up can be a pain and it never really matches in the end. At least that is my experience with cold blue. One thing is certain only rust blueing will match rust blueing.

Re: ejector foreend inletting ?
Hello Dave I have restocked enough fox ejector forends to know it's a pain. In addition to Silvers's good advice here is what I would do. The first step is to make a good pattern so the duplicator can do a good job. Next fit the metal without the parts installed to your duplicated wood. Then install...

custom fox 16ga in progress
I'm sure some of you may have seen this post on the doublegun forum but since it is a Fox I thought I would post it here as well. This gun started its life as a 16ga sterlingworth ejector. We have been commissioned to reshape the action, top lever, safety button, and forend iron. The action is curre...
