Re: late 16 gauge S/W factory BT forearm

Marshfellow - You're welcome. A relatively meager contribution to the board, but my pleasure. Silvers and Researcher - Thanks. So, quite possibly alterate options existing for this attachment? Yolk/cross-brace versus escutcheon? In the end, the originality of the BT in question in this thread is jud...

Re: late 16 gauge S/W factory BT forearm

Silvers, If I am correct, no. My third picture does not match Researcher's example of a cross-braced forend iron (second from right). Am I right? Also, I mistakenly thought that my gun was an ejector when I viewed pictures prior to purchasing it. The escutcheon led me to this error. Am I right to co...

Re: late 16 gauge S/W factory BT forearm

Gentlemen, Another example to consider. The following photos are of an '83 Bielin restock of which no notes are included in the receipt as to the style requested. I am left to conclude that this is an example of Mitzie's standard for the era rather than Savage's last style. BTW, the blue and the cya...

Re: My First Post & Fox

David, While the USPS makes the proximity of the smith performing your repair irrelevant, I would highly recommend Larry Schuknecht at Dutchman Wood Works (on the web) in Clarence, NY (just north of Buffalo). He repaired a similarly damaged Fox for me with great success. As pleasant and eager a pers...

CSMC question.

Nice gun, but would you be happy with this wood/metal fit for the money?

I wouldn't be too happy with that. It looks like the RBL's I've seen.

20ga Bore Dimension.

I know the trappings of assuming without measuring, but I am curious to know if you all could share your observations for Fox 20 ga bore dimension. If we're going to differentiate between manufacturers, then it would be from Utica. I didn't search McIntosh yet and did not find it here. .617? Thanks,...

Jolly Bill,

No, the name on the receipt is not Bill Cave.

Mike and Twice,

WHile the Repair Price list attached beow doesn't specify the method as wither BC or CS, it has been done with the CS method.

Shoot straight,

Mike, Ain't that the truth. Labor of love comes to mind when I look at those prices. A reply to my earlier thread about MB made mention of a workshop full of wood. I assume MB brought plenty with him from Savage. If he brought 90-95% shaped/inletted wood with him, then what do you make of the wood? ...

New Acquisition.

I finally made the deal on a 20ga Sterlingworth this weekend with some input from some members and after unloading some guns on lower rungs of the ladder. Thanks to Mike Campbell and Brian. Definitely no warts on this one Mike (maybe a freckle). Keep kicking a$$ Brian! What you see in the attachment...

I see said the ignorant... Birdawg, I see the same SW-type sawtooth edging around the pins on your gun as well. After reviewing McIntosh, I think I see it on the Utica CE on pg 130 and definitely see it on the Philly CE's on pgs 258 and 259. I apologize for my ignorance. I have never handled one of ...

Observations and recommendations.

French, First, I am be no means suggesting that you do not have a bonified CE grade, but I am interested to know if anyone might agree that the action/frame may have started out life (in the shop) as something of the SW variety. Does anyone find the SW-like border around the pins (hammer, sear and h...

Guys, Forgive me "MC" for making an example of an auction that you are actively engaged in, but what if gun #117008608 at Gunbroker were a 26", ejector, Utica, 20ga? Same condition. The gun is documented to have a beavertail added (replacement for a broken splinter) and refinished by ...
