Re: 16 ga Philly CE
It's entirely possible it may not have been polished at all. I notice two things in the pictures. The barrels are marked Chromox and its likely the receiver is the same material. This is a high chrome content steel and through wear from carrying the gun it can get almost polished silver looking. The...

Re: Fox A Grade
My 1922 AE 20 gage has pointed checkering but looks to be cut with a 60 degree tool not the newer 90 degree. The checkering is 24 LPI according to my Dembart gage. Lee.

Re: Need opinions
I guess I'm also one to let the guns character show through. As it's a Sterlingworth it was meant to be used and probably was. As an example, I just aquired a Model XVII J. P. Sauer from 1925. The barrel blue is absolutely 95% and the color case has faded but still visible. The gun had some dents fr...

Re: AE ejector quirks
Eureka I have found it!!!! Sometimes our memory slips a cog in our old age! I took her apart and stripped the ejectors from the barrels. Yes, for some reason there seemed to be a small burr on each ejector stem on the screw flat near the very end as well as a small burr on the barrels where the ejec...

Frank: I have had to make some of the grafts on stocks myself in the last 50 years! In a couple cases the alcohol was used for enhancing my attitude, not the grain. I find a good single malt works best. Lee.

Re: AE ejector quirks
Bobby: Thanks for the feedback! I was shooting new RST"s, 7/8oz.lites in 2 1/2" so that shouldn't be a contributing factor. I tried your suggestions this morning. The set screw is tight as the ejectors stems won't pull out beyond the stop. The guide pins are intact and don't come out of th...

AE ejector quirks
My 20 gage AE showed up with some ejector quirks last week when I shot around of clays. Unfired it opens and closes as it should. When both barrels are fired and the ejectors trip it hangs up and is very hard to get it to close without wiggleing the barrels on the hinge and almost forcing it closed ...

Sloan's was located in Ridgefield, Conn, and had a store in New York also. I have some old American Rifleman magazines from the early/middle 50's with adds for Sloan's. If my memory is correct they were absorbed by one of the large sporting goods retailers in the East in the early 60's and it bells ...

Re: ever markings like this
I have an Ithaca 1927 NID grade 1E 20 gage that has the SB&co. markings also. What I found is that they were located in Syracuse, N.Y. and were agents for Sheffield steel in England. I also found at some point they became associated with Crucible Steel, so apparently the key word is "agent&...

I use RST copper plated 6's in my double of choice for that day. Chokes are full/x full and full/mod. in 2 1/2" in my damascus guns, and 2 3/4" in the rest. Gobble Gobble!!! It will open here in Kansas I think in April. Lee.
