Re: Long legs arrived 16 Gauge 30"
Nice memories Frank. My oldest son played lacrosse in college and I knew every gun shop on the way to his school and visited a bunch in towns where he had away games. I picked up a few Savage 1895’s, 1899’s and 99’s over the years at great prices. I can still remember walking into one shop that had ...

Re: What's the worst "shade tree mechanic" repair you have seen seen??
Frank, not the same one but I walked away from a two barreled set for $1800 that I drove a few hours to look at before Covid. When I pointed out the key cut the gentleman said that he thought that they all came like that for a quick fix and that he was told that you could order them back in the day ...

Re: It's gotta be the gun...
It's a great feeling when shooting a "new to you" gun and you shoot it well. I had exactly the opposite experience 2 weeks ago. I had purchased a Browning Superposed last fall and took it to my club on an open trap night and I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it. It was so bad I ...

Re: Which one would it be???
My two barreled custom 16 I call Reynard will never leave.
It was engraved by Geoffroy Gournet who, sadly, died recently. It is the only gun that I’ve ever had custom built for my dimensions and I think I shoot it very well. 15 1/8 lop and cast on guns don’t turn up in gun stores very often.

Re: Preferred Cases for various tasks
I have the galazan case in a single gun version.
I got it for a real bargain at Hausemann‘s Hollow one year from Tony.

Re: Preferred Cases for various tasks
When hunting I always use a silicon impregnated sock type case or a long zipper case. I have probably a dozen of them. I take my guns out assembled and try to do a quick cleaning to dry them and run a bore snake through them if conditions were bad. I always fold the sock up or the zip case in half a...

Re: Winchester Model 21 20 Gauge
What does it weigh? I had the chance to buy one in 16 gauge that was in perfect condition and priced right but I could not get past the fact that it weighed just over 7 pounds. It just was too heavy for my head to get around in a subgauge gun. Roger, I haven’t weighed the gun yet but will do this w...

Re: Not a Fox but a good SXS story
If possible, I always try to walk ground I hunt when there there is fresh snow. Tag or not, it helps to understand how the deer are using the property because it is so easy to see where they came from and where they are going. I had not walked this public ground in 3 years and amazingly, things have...

100 yards all day long in about the size of a coffee can lid, at 50 yards with a rest about 3 inches.
I have been very happy with the groups I get.
