Re: Preferred Cases for various tasks

I have the galazan case in a single gun version.

I got it for a real bargain at Hausemann‘s Hollow one year from Tony.

Re: Preferred Cases for various tasks

When hunting I always use a silicon impregnated sock type case or a long zipper case. I have probably a dozen of them. I take my guns out assembled and try to do a quick cleaning to dry them and run a bore snake through them if conditions were bad. I always fold the sock up or the zip case in half a...

Re: Winchester Model 21 20 Gauge

What does it weigh? I had the chance to buy one in 16 gauge that was in perfect condition and priced right but I could not get past the fact that it weighed just over 7 pounds. It just was too heavy for my head to get around in a subgauge gun. Roger, I haven’t weighed the gun yet but will do this w...

Re: Not a Fox but a good SXS story

If possible, I always try to walk ground I hunt when there there is fresh snow. Tag or not, it helps to understand how the deer are using the property because it is so easy to see where they came from and where they are going. I had not walked this public ground in 3 years and amazingly, things have...

100 yards all day long in about the size of a coffee can lid, at 50 yards with a rest about 3 inches.

I have been very happy with the groups I get.

Not a Fox but a good SXS story

Today was the penultimate day of the late deer season (doe only, rifle/shotgun depending on zone) here in PA. I had a plan. Play hooky from work. Work from home until about noon. Drive the 45 minutes to a 4,000 acre public hunting ground and walk the frozen lake edge facing the western edge (Sunny s...

Re: Weather

That's great that you got out Tom. I had today pencilled in to try down the Easter Shore of MD but we nixed it based on the reports from a local. I sat last evening with my bow here in PA to put some meat in the freezer but I didn't see a thing. If the rain isn't too bad I'll probably go out again f...

Nice price, anyone ever have any issues with hard primers or primer depth causing light strikes?

Re: The light bulb shined bright today

Before I went to Filson chaps I used Carhart Bibs (on left) and Cabela's blue jeans. I tore them up. The best ones before the Filsons were a pair from Orvis but they were heavy and hot.

Re: The light bulb shined bright today

Tom, I am always on the lookout for good shooting gloves. I must have at least 5 different brands I’ve tried for upland hunting. The ones that get the most use are no name deer hide that a local shop had. A local craftsman would buy raw hides from processors and tan them and make gloves. I bought a ...

Re: The light bulb shined bright today

We’ve got all kinds of nasty stuff. Mostly multi flora rose and something meaner and greener. I almost always wear Filson chaps to save my legs.

Re: The light bulb shined bright today

Great going Tom!

I always carry a pair of Fiskars pruners in my game bag to help get me out of some of the predicaments I seem to get in ocassionally when going for Doodles.
