Re: 20 Ga Fox Sterlingworth

The staple in the stock head is something seen quite frequently on small bore foxes. The one's I've seen were factory work.

Re: Not a Fox but a good SXS story

Roger, we call those hunts "Armed walks" in Va. We do it quite often. Sometimes wonder whether there is a point to carrying a gun, but we always do. The running joke is you are never going to need more then the 2 shells in the chamber.

Re: Weather

Snuck in the last hunt of the year yesterday for Woodcock. Drove 3.5 hours to hit a spot that had melted some and linked up with a couple other folks. 3 hours of slip sliding on half snow covered ground we bagged it. Moved one Woodcock and it was missed. At least we can say we were out there. BTW, f...

Re: Meat in the pot 20 gauge Sterly

Beautiful stock. Wondering who did this work or whom you might recommend for restocking. That was done by Dan Rossiter years and years ago. He has moved onto G&H now and I think having them restock a Fox would be quite expensive. You might reach out to Brian Dudley at BMD gunstocks. He will hav...

Re: Weather

We are shutdown in Va now for bird hunting. I'm too old to hunt grouse in the mountains and it will be nothing but ice up there for the next two weeks, plus there is no grouse in the mountains. :(

The Woodcock will all head south. Agree, we are probably in a wrap mode now.

Few more. Sophie on the left pointing and Annie on the right backing. 2 birds came off the ground and I had no shot at either. It happens.

Unexpected hunt

I had no plans to hunt today. Big storm inbound with extreme cold to follow. Unexpectedly, my hunting buddy of over 35 years who lives in WV contacted me yesterday evening. His wife has had some health issues and as such we haven't linked up other then one time. Anyway, he wanted to meet up this mor...
