Re: Which one would it be???

BSSs are tough, they're easy to shoot well, and they're reasonably priced for a good, tough S X S. But, they're not bulletproof. My 30" model that I bought many years ago had to be worked on because one barrel would not cock after firing. The problem never recurred after the repair. And, the ste...

Almost certainly an overcharge, due to one thing or another. I agree not an obstruction. I've seen this before.

Re: Nash Buckingham Duck Call

AIR, one of my best sources of information on old duck calls and their makers is the great book The Golden Age of Waterfowling, by Wayne Capooth.

Re: Have a Blessed Easter

I've been busy since 4:30 am this morning. Got up and cooked a big crockpot of tomato/cheese/bacon grits to take to the church. Sunrise service was at 7 am and we fed all attendees a big, hot breakfast afterwards. Back home now getting ready to go back to the 10:30 am worship service. After that all...

Re: Breech Face and Ejectors

I agree with Frank, including on the grease. There are four places on mine that get grease, with a few more bearing surfaces with lighter load that receive oil. The knuckle/forend iron contact gets grease, along with the ejector faces. Also, the "loop surface" where the rotary hook engages...

Two and seven-eighths inch chambered Super Tens are fun to use on ducks. It is my second favorite duck gun, my Super Fox three-inch being first.

Gorgeous. Better workmanship in some areas than a London best. Fabulous checkering. That forend is to die for.

Thanks so much for sharing those pics.

Re: Trouble with re-assembly

A very clear and concise explanation, Frank. Well done.

It also looks to me as if the ejector mechanism has been removed from the forend iron.

Re: 410 Model B questions

Wow, what a nice example, and an ejector model to boot! The condition is noteworthy! I never realized the "E" , as stamped, was a smaller font size than the "B".

Thanks for posting the excellent pics, and to you Dave, for the always pertinent data.

Was Jason able to take care of your need? I'm late to this game I realize, but I have purchased complete sets of Fox screws from him.

Re: Desert quail with a Sterly 16

Great photos! I took my first Gambels in the Tucson area several years ago with a 20 S X S, but it wasn't a Fox. I have since remedied that with a "re-made to order" Philly Sterly 20 with 28" barrels. Mine isn't stocked with as much drop as yours, though. I had the chambers lengthened...

Great narrative, Kevin. It's so nice to see snow, IN PICTURES!!!

I sure hope it doesn't come this far South. We're forecasted to get rain Friday, with some forecasting agencies saying sleet or snow. I'm thinking I'll just spend the day in the pool hall with my buddies.

There are many more golden nuggets of wisdom in the other chapters of Oswald's book, as well. Upon my first reading of an inexpensive book like this, that I intend to keep, I underline everything significant to me for future reference. I've never underlined as many passages in a book as I did with t...

Ball drop? I shot pool with friends until the 8 ball dropped just about midnight. Then, home I went.

I guess that's what they're talking about, Daryl.
