Re: Case Color Removal

The color produced by a torch is the same as case color and only an oxidation process. Blue remover, CLR, toilet bowl cleaner will remove it, I use CLR to remove old blue, just don't let it sit in it too long.

Bill, it would be easier to fit a Parker f/e. You would have to fit a pair of cocking lumps on the forend where it fits against the frame, other wise they are almost identical.

A couple of years ago I bought an A grade PAC Fox , #1020 that had great metal with original finish; the wood had been hacked up by a trap shooter. I am in the process of restoring the stock and forend with new wood. I was taking some photos for Chris to give him an idea of the safety mechanism whic...

Chris, if you are really interested in restocking your PAC Fox, I have a Pattern Stock that came off mine (#1xxx). You are welcome to use it to have a stock machined for yours, it is sufficiently high and long enough for custom fitting. I also have a forend for same purpose. Contact me if you are in...

I have #59 recorded as being a stripped receiver. I have #78 recorded as a complete A-Grade, and #127 also as a stripped receiver. Those three have A.H. FOX on the sides of receiver. All the others I've recorded from 152 on up have just FOX. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v316/Ansleyone/PAC-2.jp...

dragon wrote:what is the earliest serial # recorded in any grade for the phillidephia arms fox?
A friend owns # 59 which I owned at one time, it is an A grade in well used condition. It has the metal tip on the forend. I am sure the is an earlier # out there.

OK guys this is mine, it was setting in the vault doing nothing so I decided to move to someone for a shooter. I knew the lever was over, however the gun was tight and on face so I did not do anything to it. I did post a picture of the lever so the buyer would not be surprised. So after this post I ...

I am thinking that B grades with the later style engraving must be fairly rare, any ideas on how many were produced? I once owned a 16 ga BE that I sold in a weak moment and have regretted it ever since.

FC the last Utica 12ga I had had the large F/E and was 1935 or so, it had ejectors, there may have been a difference in time frame for non-ejector guns. It also was marked 2 3/4 chambers on the barrels.

I have an AE 12 ga with #2 30' barrels, serial is 32981, they weigh 3lb 7.5oz on an accurate scale.Barrels are without ejector blades and cocking mechanism, the bores are .726 and chokes .691, so I would assume they have not been messed with FWIW

Dave, weird things happen. I bought a double gun from a dealer in the midwest a couple of years ago, when it arrived it had a recoil pad with the name of a gunsmith that was in my town in California in late 1940's
