Re: 2024 Vintagers

Thanks for posting, I don’t feel too bad about missing the shoot now. It’s a shame, I really enjoyed it last year when it was out by Harrisburg. I absolutely need to make the Rock Mountain shoot next year. Yes you do need to make the Rock Mountain shoot next year. It's a shooters shoot. You won't b...

Re: 2024 Vintagers

That's pretty much how I see it too Brett. I'd venture to say that about 75% of my shooting buddies are also hunters. It starts here in MD on Sept 1st with doves, then then 15th opens for bow and small game. I love shooting clays but my time afield is way too short for me to miss even one day. In my...

2024 Vintagers

Spent Thurs at Hopkins Game farm, location of the 2024 Vintagers. Vendors were few, maybe 8 tables (?) and heavy on the European guns. Steve Cobb was set up but a very limited display compared to Ernie's or the Southern. The only Foxes I saw were on the course. Food truck was a joke but there was Mo...

Re: How do you warm up for bird season?

So sorry to hear about Larry. He always had a smile on his face and I will always think of him when I pull out that kids model 410/.22 purchased from him years ago. Please give the guys and his wife my condolences.

Re: How do you warm up for bird season?

Other than shooting doves I pretty much stay "warmed up" year long shooting clays. Low gun shooting mostly true pairs.

Re: OGCA Fox Sightings

Keep the suggestions coming guys. I will implement some sort of sign up sheet that if you are willing to shoot on a challenge team you will make a commitment to stick around and check back with your gun's organization to see if and when you shoot.

Re: OGCA Fox Sightings

It seems to me the lack of participation and enthusiasm are the challenge team events. We have tried different qualifying strategies to try to draw more people in, it has helped with fill out a squad but not everyone is happy with the selection format. The best events in terms of participants was t...

Re: OGCA Fox Sightings

Craig: You hit the nail on the head! Fred: You bring your friends to Hausmann's or Rock Mountain and I'll make sure they have a Fox to shoot. Jeff: That is a great idea. We can start in SD with some pics. Frank: Your points are well taken. I want to remain optimistic for at least our one shoot a yea...

I should know this Tom but what's the difference between the Red setter and the Irish setter? I think Annie is a keeper.

Thanks for the reply Kent. I'll certainly consider the outfitters you mentioned because the duck hunting here in Maryland is miserable.
