Frank, your photo got my curiosity up so I looked at the safety spring on my early B Grade #14xx. It looks like the one on your B Grade, however, it is highly polished to the point where it looks like it's chrome plated. It's interesting how much work was put into these early guns.

Thank you for considering my suggestion and providing the space for inserting the other Graded photos. I hope the members and contributors of this site will use the space. I tried to list the photos of my early B grade that are on page 3 but I didn't have any more luck than the last time when David ...

News Letter Received Today!

I was happy to receive the latest newsletter today in the mail. Another letter filled with a lot of interesting information. I especially enjoyed Craig Larter's piece on the rare B Grade - my favorite Fox. I never really thought about how rare my early B Grade is and thought it was interesting that ...

Why not have a place for members to also post the B, H, X, D, F grades, etc. Actually, why not Sterlingworths up the line - the point being all Foxes are great guns and if a member would like to share theirs with other members, then there should be a place where we can go to enjoy viewing them. Our ...

Updated Photo Posting Repository Needed

Hello Fox-Admin,

Was wondering why there is only a place to post photos of only A and C Grade Foxes. Why not a place to post the other Grades???

Thanks

Mike

This photo is actually of an early (1907) B GRADE, not an A GRADE.

Why only pictures of A and C Grades but no B Grades???

I agree with you Brian. Everyone I have bothered to measure is usually 1/8 inch shorter. Never encountered one that was over.

The bag says PC 12 Post but doesn't give a product number. I think Pattern Control only makes this one wad. They used to be white in color but are now being made in mutlicolors within the same bag. Like I said, I've loaded many thousands of these wads and they work most effectively through tight cho...

Assuming your SW is a 12 guage, there is an excellent spreader wad made by PC. I believe they are calling themselves DownRange these days. The wad is basically a Winchester AA copy with a center post in the middle of the shot cup. This wad does an excellent job opening up the pattern of tight chokes...

Registered Users - Become an AHFCA Member Today!

I found this website about a month ago and after enjoying the knowledge found within for a few weeks, I decided to become a member although I wasn't sure what I would gain that I couldn't get for free already. Well, I have just received the members' letter and thoroughly enjoyed the info inside and ...

This stock design, though much more rare was used on some Foxes. Page 111 of Michael McIntosh's Fox book shows an early pin Sterlingworth with a stock head like that of this A grade. I also remember seeing an early B grade with a stock like this at the Vintagers 2005 National Side by Side Festival h...

Nice Pics Dave of a nice early Fox. I checked the barrels of my early B grade pictured just a few lines down from from this posting and they are not stamped "Heavyweight Barrels" as on this "BA". How much does this BA weigh?? I've weighed mine on 2 different scales and it is 8lbs...

One last question - would anyone know if the chamber length on these early guns were 2 3/4 or were they chambered for the shorter 2 5/8 or 2 1/2 inch shell length? I have read Tom Roster's studies as well as some others on chamber pressure relating to shooting the 2 3/4 inch shell in the shorter cha...

That is exactly what happens. When pulling the trigger, the safety moves slightly forward and then the hammer drops. Thanks for the detailed explanation.

Opinion Requested of Malfunctioning Safety on CE Grade

I'm in the process of acquiring a 20 gauge CE Grade with 28 inch barrels, straight hand stock and splinter foreend. It handles great and would make a great upland bird gun. The only problem is the forward trigger can be pulled to fire the gun when the safety is in the on position. The rear trigger i...
