Hello:
Are Barrel weights stamped on the barrel flats somewhere?
Thanks,

Re: Cracks/fractures in water table

You are never too old to learn: I saw the "A" grade referred to, and was surprised & dismayed. It was a beautiful gun, but had those serious cracks. I was a bit surprised a dealer didn't see or mention the cracks. My first guess would have been magnum loads, but the logic of slamming t...

Re: Fox Sterlingworth 12ga Project

Your gun looks wonderful. Keep taking pictures, as we shooters get a lot of enjoyment in seeing every one of them.

Re: custom fox 16ga in progress

The "Helluva nice guy's" name is Bill Davis. He picked up the barrels for me from Ken's.
We have never met in person, but if you meet him, he's a first class guy!

Re: custom fox 16ga in progress

Ken Hurst engraved the receiver, then quit working on the gun. He had his wife die, he got sick, he just tapered off and never finished the gun. He was really sick, not faking it. I do not condemn Ken; he is a southern gentleman of the old school. BUT if it were not for a helluva nice guy who helped...

Re: custom fox 16ga in progress

Ken Hurst was part of the long process. He engraved the receiver, then became so sick he just didn't finish. He lost his wife, he was sick, and kept assuring me he was working on the gun when he wasn't. He kept telling me his back just hurt so bad he could only work on the barrels a little at a time...

Re: custom fox 16ga in progress

In Dan's defense; he was NOT the holdup. It was the first two engravers: Then, Robert Strosin, Engraver; got ahold of the gun, finished it, and sent it back to Dan in ten days! I am just too easy going, and didn't scream at Ken Hurst. If it hadn't been for a helluva nice guy, it may still be sitting...

Re: custom fox 16ga in progress

Well, it's five years later. I am awaiting the finished product; thanks to Dan Rossiter, Ken Hurst, Robert Strosin, Hulet Million, Mark Larson, Anthony Patti, and others. For some of you.....the gun will look like it should belong to a Pimp in New Orleans(Yes, my tastes changed in 5 years....too lat...

Re: It sure seems a little less stuffy around here . . .

I have a 16 Gauge Fox Sterlingworth 30" ejector gun that I have been having customized for what seems a long time. I own some nice side by sides, but the lines of the Fox were so adaptable to customizing, I decided if I had one customized gun in my life; it would be a Fox. If I did it over agai...

Re: What is a good reference book for Foxes?

Thanks for the good information: I have emailed my friend, who is a reader, headed overseas for a month or so. I bet he will buy and read the "Finest Gun in the World" before I see him again, and with his memory will know more about them than I do. I guess it's time for me to buy a copy as...

What is a good reference book for Foxes?

I have a friend who just purchased his first Fox: He asked me what books I had on the subject, and I could offer him McIntosh's "Best Guns," but he asked if there was some publication that listed model numbers, serial numbers, etc. Being someone who has become more and more enamored with t...

Dan Rossiter is the man. He is absolutely first rate in many respects, not just stock repairs.
