Thank you all, for your replies. I feel confident without investing in a choke and barrel measuring device, that I have a factory 26" gun. Now, where are those grouse????

How to determine if Fox barrels have been cut

Recently a Sterly showed up at my house with 26" barrels. On other SxS I own there is a perpendicular line on the rib that indicates whether the barrels have been shortened. Is there an indicator on the Fox barrel that will show whether surgery has occurred?

I am using a chamber gauge from Galazan's with machined grooves on it for 2 3/4" and 3" shells. I measured and scribed various shell size indications on the gauge. Dropping the gauge into the chamber the mark scribed for 2 5/8 is at the end of the chamber where the hull base would be. Shoo...

Wisdom of rechambering from 2 5/8 to 2 3/4

I am currently using 2 3/4 shells in my 2 5/8 gun. Will rechambering a 20 gauge Sterly to 2 3/4 help with the arthritic trigger finger pain when shooting this nice little bird gun? I am not all that concerned with having an "original" Sterly. The other question is; do the Utica guns shoot ...
