Re: Daybreak Stick Pond

Thank you. Had assistance from my double gun friendly host. An approaching pair fell with two shots (cyl./mod.) using Bismuth #5 for the only Fox solo double on the morning. Lab enjoyed eight retrieves on the day.

Re: 2024 Maine and NH uplands

Good report. Especially like the last photograph. Old dogs are special and some of their later hunts are as memorable as some of their early retrieves.

Thank you for nice comment. Should have taken better images to better show the black duck with the mallards.

This stick pond does not see very many visiting black ducks.

Re: Fox & Grouse

The gentleman who installed the pad was very understanding of my desire to maintain the original stock without modification in the placement of the pad. The spacer was needed to add some length and to preserve the originality of the stock. This also allowed some adjustment for pitch. Very pleased wi...

Re: Fox & Grouse

Have enjoyed hunting in a half dozen counties each season for the past few decades. Some locations get visited every few years. Had fun this weekend hunting several spots which were all new to me yet were within an hour of one of my usual spots. Moved a decent number of grouse yet only one woodcock ...

Re: Fox & Grouse

Jeff, Thank you. The Fox shown in an early A grade 12 gauge with original chokes pretty well suited for grouse hunting.

Re: Gun Fitting New Pad

IMG_1858.jpeg Jeffrey, Wanted to preserve this 115 year old classic and the smith was fully understanding of this request. Only had time for one hunt after the new pad was added but it was terrific. Already looking forward to the upcoming season. Zachery, Your suggestion may prompt a search for ano...

Gun Fitting New Pad

Was shooting better than usual with a new acquisition yet felt this vintage Fox was a bit short in terms of length of pull. A visit to the gun-fitter and our trip to the five stand range quickly demonstrated that an extra inch or so in length was ideal. After a brief separation while in the shop, th...

Sheldrake,

Nice to see another A Grade getting game to close out a season. Wondering what shells you were using?

Re: My first Fox.

Congratulations on your first Fox.

Have the gun checked by a competent gunsmith if you have concerns about this vintage SW then experiment with lead loads on trap, clays or five stand and see how the loads feel and function from 1 oz to 1 1/4 oz.
