Re: Lever left of center

My go-to Fox BE is about 1/8” left of center and it displays tight lock-up at the breach as well as the flats. Besides actual measurement at the contact surfaces (which is <.001”), a good test is to close the action “without” the forearm attached and check for any play/movement between the barrels/b...

Re: Winchester Model 12 - 20 gauge

Newer forum member running into an older post of interest. Nice 20ga Model 12! When I’m not shooting one of my doubles, I’m shooting one of my Model 12’s, My near mint condition(1963) 28” 20ga field model(bottom), and, my go-to for decades, (1941) 28” 12ga field model which I eventually added a Bril...

Re: Reverse chokes?

My 80’s Remington 1100 Skeet barrel also has a “reverse” choke, similarly designed to my 12 Model Winchester 12 with a .004-.005” constriction with about a 2” inch long section to the muzzle that is opened to about.010” over cylinder. While I haven’t done any formal patterning tests, I have shot tho...

Re: Two favorites and a newcomer

Very nice!!
I’m a lifelong fan and shooter of the Model 12’s. I have a 28” field 12ga(1941), 12ga solid rib Skeet(1952), and a 28” field 20ga(1963). They are all superb shooters. If I’m not shooting one of my SxS’s….It’s surely one of my Model 12’s.

Re: Buck

After 25 years of heavy use, Davidsons fine work is still impressive to me. These are the sides/bottom game scenes on the XE.

My Grandfathers Shotgun

At 14 years old, back in the mid 60’s, my shotgunning/hunting experience began with a beat up H&R 20ga Topper. Within a year, my Aunt gave me my grandfathers Austrian made 16ga double barrel hammer gun. As it remains today, it was in excellent condition, and at the time was declared by a local g...

It is a CSMC Fox XE made for me in 1999. I don’t know who engraved it. I may try calling CSMC to try and find out.

Re: Bucks predecessor

A photo of Bucks predecessor, Rusty, taken about 20 years prior(same 20ga Fox XE). During that time while deer hunting in Alberta, I had met Nick Wright a talented Illustrator for many of the popular hunting magazines. Nick kindly produced this 26”x26” watercolor of Rusty and I from photos taken at ...

Re: Very Early Western Super-X 20-gauge

Great info! Perhaps some remember. Back in 1992 Winchester offered a (limited)reproduction of circa. 1922, Super X, 12 ga #6, shotgun shells. This included both packaging, and 25rds. Being my favorite brand since I acquired my first shotgun in 1965, I couldn’t resist buying a box….Still in mint cond...

Re: B grades

Greyfox, very nice. I've owned a few second gen B's and like many others here, they are my favorite. I see you're in the northeast and on another thread you said you're an avid bird hunter and clays shooter. There are a few others here with the same interests and I sure hope you can make it to the ...

Re: Buck

If there is one thing I love more than a shotgun, it's a dog. If I was wealthy I would have a kennel full of them. Of course it would be on my plantation managed for bird hunting. :? What is the gun in your picture? A couple of additional pictures. CSMC Fox XE grade. Manufac. 1999(I’m the original ...

The gun in the picture is a CSMC Fox XE 20ga, bought 25 years ago.
