Re: Buttkicking vintage shells
Ithaca used a one piece rib with locking extension when introduced with the Crass and Lewis styles. Entire rib including the frame extension soft soldered and not hard or brazed as a separate piece as was the practice with other makers. When ripped loose, expert repair short of a complete stripping ...

Re: Buttkicking vintage shells
I have an 1904 Ithaca Lewis with a two barrel set, 28" & 32"; both barrel rib extensions ripped loose. Now expertly repaired. One can only surmise that these "magnum" duck and goose loads to be responsible.

Re: Ammo
Having grown up in SD back in the 50-70s #5 were the right tool for late season snow on the ground birds. Most flushes (sans poochies) in December started at 30 yards in 20 mph winds. Pre-steel days always included a pocket of #4 for the occasional jumped mallard still hanging about before ice-up. T...

Original wood finish 1910?
Any idea as to what type or blend of finish was used by the craftsmen on A grade Fox wood back in 1906-10?

Re: Early serial # Grade A available
I called BW. Not relying on what was written on the tag listing 1907 as the production year, I asked that they check the serial on the water table and barrel flats: Serial number is in fact number 19. More info will require a phone call to BW.

Early serial # Grade A available
For those interested there is a 1907, very low serial number (if i read the tag correctly), Grade A Fox on offer at one of my shooting clubs. It is on consignment. They do not list these on the website so a visit or phone call is required.

Re: First Fox
This Fox made its way to Jaqua's in Findlay, Ohio. I stopped in to look over an early D grade Damascus Parker and left with this lovely Fox. Just could not put it down. Can you provide more information on Read in Boston?

Re: First Fox
Received the production card. If i am reading this correctly this Fox was originally f/f. Right barrel now measures a modified choke at +0.710. Weight at 6-11 is unchanged. Can almost read the date stamp. Not clear as to the interpretation for 'Slight Reduction'. Also my inspection reveals that the ...

Re: First Fox
I spent some considerable time considering what appears to me to be a root node in the blank. The outstanding condition of the Fox won out. After a round of clays I am pleased. Thanks.
