Re: Fox Chamber length

Silvers, Thank You for that valuable info! I want to hunt this gun but not ruin it, as it is not a collector piece but has significant family value. I do not want to ruin it, so I have stopped buying the fiocchi shells (in this market they were a good deal), and I will begin looking for Federal. I a...

Re: Fox Chamber length

very interesting! I was just contemplating chamber length in my 16 ga the other week. I took it to my local shop and they stated it measured out @ 2-3/4" as I believe mine is a 1928 release SER#302xxx. My Brother in Law ran Federal ammo through it in 2-3/4 & 1065 fps bird shot. I plan on us...

Re: AE two barrel set

Dana, I bet you are very happy!! Tell us about the process, craftsman that did the work and how you found the 16 ga. Barrels to add to the gun. Thanks for the pics. Brett I would love to hear more about this also! I know this is an older string but I would love to see the possibility of adding a 20...

Re: Great Grand-dad's 16 ga

Jeff, Can't wait to post a DOA pic! Just hope that 1st dove of the season doesn't cost me $32 :D (meaning 2 boxes of shells). The barrels are 26" and my chamber size is 2-3/4 (measured by my local gunsmith today) Yeah this gun is not leaving the family, nor is it going to reside in the safe, my...

Re: Great Grand-dad's 16 ga

Jeff, Thank You for the info! I have already bookmarked the RST site & have a few boxes in the queue for 7-1/2 shot. Will buy more later as $$ allow. I greatly appreciate the advise and bug me all you want, because the last thing I want to do is ruin this firearm! With our serial numbers being c...

Re: New To Forum

Hi Ron, I am new to the forum also & new to Fox's, as I have inherited my wife's Great Grand-dad's 16 gauge. I am hoping to begin dove hunting this year, as I have never done so. Plenty of rabbit & squirrel in southern Louisiana where i grew up, but I met a Carolina girl while in the Navy in...

Re: Great Grand-dad's 16 ga

Thank You for the nice replies! Someone suggested RST shells, so please excuse my ignorance, is it suggested, recommended or imperative that I use RST shells? The local sportmans shop to me has; Fiocchi Dove Loads ( 2-3/4", 7-1/2 Dove Load 1 oz @ 1165 fps), I have been buying the allotted 2 box...

Re: Great Grand-dad's 16 ga

Stan,

I think my brother in law had the barrel blued but I am not 100% certain (he is no longer with us)
But yes this will pass down & the boys can fight over it when I am too old to walk the field anymore :)
