Regarding the finish on XE trigger guards, from my observations,early ones were blued then went to case colored in the late teens-early twenties.I have lately been seeing some twenties guns with blue. Looks to me like the barrels have been reblued and cut, wood possibly replaced but the receiver looks nice. Engraving looks good and possibly unmessed with. It’s a gun you wouldn’t be afraid to take in the brush and it is your own XE, Foxes most attractive gun IMO.

They are all favorites! I cant get enough of these well made examples of a bygone era. I hope the younger generation picks up on this genre and keeps them alive. the XE also has a round knob rather than a straight grip. Can anyone tell what it says between the date and serial number on the back of the card, looks like like Fox ------ -------?

Here is the card for my 32 inch XE. Don't know what HOLD means but I think it might have been a cancelled order as my gun has standard barrel engraving and no swivels. It looks like some of the specifics were scribbled out.
