Re: 12 GA AE Stock Is Loosening
If you intend continue shooting this this gun it is important that you address the loose stock. A loose stock can lead to a split in the stock and you will right back to where you were before you had the gun re-stocked.

Re: 12 GA AE Stock Is Loosening
An obvious question is have you checked the action screws? They can work loose or the wood can shrink a bit over time and cause the screws to become loose, more of a problem with older guns but not impossible with newer wood. As far a glass bedding goes it is pretty straight forward. I use a good tw...

Re: Savage Fox question
Good plan. I have a 16 gauge Sterlingworth Brush model 16 made in 1922 I picked up from a parts dealer for $200.00 before he started stripping it that looked like it had been used as a paddle by a Chesapeake Bay Oyster man sitting on my bench for a couple of years. One winter day I decided what the ...

Re: Savage Fox question
I just called Briley to get an idea of repair cost. They will redo the ribs and re blue for $650. That would take my cost to $1000 for an otherwise $1500 gu I don't want to rain on your parade but to get this gun to a $1,500.00 value level it is going to take more than re laying the ribs and a barr...

Re: Savage Fox question
I can't tell from the photos but the receiver looks to have been blued. Also the engraving looks to have been heavily polished as have barrels. If the receiver is blued I think you can be pretty much assured the whole gun was hot blued.

Re: 16ga Fox Sterlingworth chamber measurement help
As the Researcher points out the standard chamber length for 16 gauge until the early to mid 30s was 2 9/16ths. Many makers held the chamber a bit short so the fired hulls would extend into the forcing cones for a better seal. If your gun is in good condition you can't go wrong by using RST or other...

As I remember we were pretty much even on those pretty little purple roll crimped Federal papers. I'll bring you another box of #6s. I need to get down stairs and load some more anyway.

Well Phil for a small retainer say a 6 pack of "Tall Grass" (Pale Ale preferred) I would be willing to share a small portion of my vast experience shooting on the wing. Meet me at Gypsum some weekend afternoon with that sweet little 16 "A" grade bird slayer and a case of #8 Super...

The old dime test will not work if the barrels are choked full and full.R.R. wrote: Will a dime fit down either barrel at the muzzle?
Do you have a caliper or an accurate rule?
