Totally understand, Stan, and thanks again for your help on this problem. The background on repair technique, when added to what Frank sent, is a great set of references. I am glad to have this info, since I may well again face this guide rod problem again on one of my Foxes in the future.

Re: Ejector Guide Pin Repair
Thanks, Frank. I totally agree with you and expect I will have to ship it a long ways. Maybe Bartram will be interested in the project. The good thing is the Idaho smith stopped before he ruined anything, at least to my "non-smith" eye, and the guide pin never was broken, the old weld appa...

Re: Ejector Guide Pin Repair
Thanks very much, Stan, for both the title and location of the saved process, as well as the copy of it you posted. Very informative. Unfortunately, I have NO soldering experience and am only a mediocre welder (read "rod burner"!), so while very a very interesting process I have no confide...

Re: Ejector Guide Pin Repair
MANY thanks for your reply, guidance and suggestions!! This a brilliant approach and extremely creative! Even a non-machinist like myself can see that this should be very effective. I hope I can find someone that uses this approach. I will certainly attempt to forward your process to any smith I can...

Ejector Guide Pin Repair
Have a 20 ga. A Grade whose right ejector guide pin has come loose from the ejector. Took it to a Boise gun shop that had repaired the same problem in my 12 ga. A Grade several years ago, altho it took them at least 3 times. The gunsmith that did that job has apparently moved on and the fellow that ...

Re: A Grade replacement recoil pad
As made, your 1921 A Grade 20 would likely have a slightly concave butt surface under its buttplate and I strongly encourage you to avoid having that surface sanded flat (as typical) when fitting whatever recoil pad you decide on. Find a 'smith who will make the pad base convex to match up with the...

Re: A Grade replacement recoil pad
I agree with Craig on both accounts, and ended up with this one on my AE 16 several years ago. It's a great little pad that I bought from Mark Beasland, if I am not mistaken. As you can see the face is not perfectly flat like a regular Silvers pad, but is exceptionally comfortable and effective in ...

A Grade replacement recoil pad
Just got a 1921 20 ga. A Grade w/original buttplate. Would like to add a period-correct recoil pad, but was wondering what style would be "accurate" for this gun? Any ideas, or suggestions? Would one of the Galazan red types be what was originally shipped from the factory on a gun of this ...

Single trigger
Considering an A grade with a single selective trigger, and have been assured the trigger is fully functional. Having heard that vintage single triggers can be a pain, and that knowing that competent vintage gunsmiths are hard to find these days, especially west of the Mississippi, how difficult wou...

Re: Need A Grade Right Side Ejector
Thanks for the information, Frank. Glad to know the proper term for the guide pin. I'll continue trying to get the ejector fully repaired as I don't want to run into the problem you describe. Additionally, as I mentioned before, I don't like having a gun that isn't in full repair and function. Looks...

Re: Need A Grade Right Side Ejector
So Sterlingworth ejectors would work in an A grade? The "support rod" under the right side (tip/end) of the right ejector kept coming loose and was soldered back in place twice. In line with the old adage of the charming 3rd time, when the gunsmith tried to, I believe, weld it this time, i...
