my 2 cents: if there is close to zero original finish, checkering and engraving but it is mechanically sound then it would be a wonderful thing to " restore " it realizing you most likely would take a financial loss when you sell it but that wood speaks to me and begs to be glorious from a...

Sorry that thought didn't help.
Suggest someone qualified take the gun apart ... double trigger Foxes are so simple any mechanical problems should be
easy to spot and a bit of cleaning and lubrication after 100 years can't hurt.

Seems like a possible scenario if the safety spring is damaged or disconnected.

Does the safety have crisp on and off positions or does it slide ( more like flop) back and forth with no obvious resistance?
