Re: light weight 16 gauge guns
For some years I had a C grade 16. Number 300004. Weight with 28” barrels was 5-8. I is now with my hunting partner. I may have posted photos a couple years ago.

Re: Bobbed HE - Where are the 'Barrel Police'??
No doubt the barrel police have wet themselves and are tearing their clothes along with the butchered buttstock police. Have the Fox choke designs been investigated? How long of a taper, how much parallel, differences between degrees of choke, shape or constriction changes over time, this sort of t...

Re: Re-stocking to a straight English grip
I have an AE grade 16 that came from the factory with a straight grip. It was restocked at some point prior to my getting it. However the stock pictured in the OP looks like a C grade or higher - based on the checkering of the cheeks and the quality of the (European) walnut. I do not think that Fox ...

Re: Undetermined barrel weight
Then it should be the chamber pressures that concern you, not the shot charge weight. The shot charge weight has more to do with protecting the integrity of the wood in the original stock head, i.e., recoil. SRH Increased shot charge is in direct connection to increased chamber & barrel pressur...

Re: utica barrel crown
Lots of variation in barrel wall thickness at the muzzle, at least. Looks like it was filed up, struck, and finished in a hurry.

Re: Barrel loops and snap-on fore-ends
Dave -- Many thanks for the clear explanation of the two types I have. My C grade 16 (no. 300004 - very early production) has the Kremer type with the spring in the forend. My 1915 A grade 20 (no. 200687) has the Russell design. So I learned something that I hadn't known before. Thanks. Interestingl...

Re: CSMC vs Custom Fox small bore?
Back in the day, when I was about half way through building my first custom Fox (Graded 16 ga. ejector with factory straight grip), Tony Galazan was just introducing his CSMC Foxes. The price was about what I anticipated spending on my 1914 gun, but Tony encouraged me to finish the custom project. G...

Re: 20 Ga 2 1/2" or Win AA Low recoil loads
I use 2-3/4" 7/8 oz. ammunition that does not exceed standard pressures. The difference between a 2-3/4" AA 20 hull and an RST 2-1/2" hull is actually about 1/16" in length - see the photo below. Not enough to matter at all.

Barrel loops and snap-on fore-ends
I have several small bore Fox guns. One 16 has the standard Anson-type latch. Another, a first year of production 16 'C' grade, has a snap on with a small barrel loop and the 'roller' in the fore-end metal. Another, a 1915 20 gauge, has a snap-on fore-end with a small 'roller' on the barrel loop. In...
